I saw "Casino Royale" today, and I'm going to give it two (yes, two) reviews, first the normal kind:
Casino Royale!
Starring Daniel Craig, Jude Dench, and a couple of hot girls. Probably the best Bond since "GoldenEye", certainly better than "Die Another Day". (invisible cars, Koreans, and giant laser beams? Well maybe the Koreans.) Not as much action than some of the other films, and probably a little different in certain themes, but certainly understandable with the very believable plot. Oh, and the Bond is actually pretty good.
****9*****
Okay, the second review isn't really a review, it's just me saying that while I went into this thinking "This is going to be nothing like the book." Other than two big things and a few tiny things, it was almost exactly like it... the two big differences: (SPOILER)
1. All the stuff until Vesper and Bond meet on the train is new, but a bit necessary to A) introduce the characters, B) give an explanation on how they found Le Chiffre, and C) have a decent amount of action.
2: The end was different, in the book Vesper does not betray Bond and she is poisoned because of what Bond did. It's understandable why they changed the end, because the girl just dying and it being over would be depressing and not very Bond-y.
(END SPOILERS)
They made a few little changes, like Le Chiffre funding terrorists instead of communists, them playing Texas Hold 'Em instead of Baccarat, him having a heart attack, Felix Leiter being black, but basically all the middle is exactly like the book.
I enjoyed it.
Oh, and the trailer for Spider-Man 3 was at the beginning so... that made it even better.
