Well I recently saw four of last year's biggest movies (and another movie that was semi-big), and before reviewing I'm going to give you an actual meaning to my scale:
10 STARS: Totally awesome.
9: Fantastic
8: Great
7: Good
6: Fair (Above average)
5: Mediocre (So-so)
4: Poor
3: Bad
2: Terrible
1: Vomit
0: Seizure inducing
Crank!:
Jason Statham and Amy Smart. Action-y, and violent-y. A really good action movie, but not that much plot, even though I'm pretty sure it's pulling inspiration from GTA. It's basically Grand Theft Auto: The Movie... see it if you like action movies and can handle the very bizarre shooting style they did.

The Prestige:
Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlet Johanson and a very odd looking David Bowie. One of the better non-indie and non-R rated movies of yesteryear. A pretty suprising and disturbing ending. See if it you like a good mystery/slash... uhh... magic movie... COME ON!

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan!:
Sacha Baron Cohen. Funniest movie of last year, but only appropriate for people who don't mind seeing a lot of man-junk... pretty disgusting. Definently a must see for everyone who likes "funny"... HIGH FIIIVE!

Babel!:
Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and a bunch of people who I can't spell their names. This should have won best picture, and even though I like and have given Little Miss Sunshine a higher rating, this still should have won. There is a difference between how good a movie is and how much I like it. Tragic, sometimes funny, and pretty brutal, this movie has one of the more poignant messages I've seen in movies as of recent, that different ways of communication can cause biases that can end up hurting people. The only naughty things is some nudity, and frequent F-bomb use by Mr. Pitt, but still... a must see.

The Departed!:
Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Whalberg, and Alec Baldwin. This earns third in my opinion of last year. Reasons why it shouldn't have gotten best picture: odd ending and it drags on for a pretty long time. But here is some praise: only movie I've ever liked DiCaprio and Baldwin in, good story and pretty much just well made (Scorsese DID earn the Director award in my opinion). There is a LOT of cussing though... so be warned for anyone with virgin ears.

Well, that's all. See you homies later.
Oh, and P.S., I should be seeing Zodiac and 300 later this week... and by word of mouth, both of them are NIIICE!
